The Evolving Hobbit House

Hobbit House (circa 1944) was originally a single little cinder block greenhouse, the first construction by the residents at Sunrise Ranch. Situated in Eden Valley outside Loveland Colorado, Sunrise Ranch was the final culmination of Lloyd Meeker's vision (pen name Uranda) to see if dedicated living expression of the spirits of Love and Truth could transform the human experience. He and a dozen souls initiated this process on the land at Sunrise Ranch, and never looked back... When I arrived at Sunrise to help my friend David Ward with a new dining hall project, "Hobbit House" was existing as an abandoned Ham Radio Shack in dire need of repair. When the dining hall project wrapped up, I found myself renovating the Ham Shack when my friend mentioned "Hey, this could be a nice little home..." The rest is history!
