...with solar heated water from panels mounted on the building to the east. The solar heated water is stored in a 700 gallon tank built at the back of the adjacent Fire Hall. The tank prevents the Fire Truck water tanks from freezing. The solar heated water is circulated through radiators for winter space heating of Hobbit House and the adjacent offices of the Ranch Maintenance Department. Cold water is run through several parallel loops of 3/8" copper tubing submerged in the tank to provide hot water for the shower and new kitchen sink.
