The Sunny John at Sustainable Settings

A fall 2001 project of Sustainable Settings, their Sunny John demonstrates creative expansion of the original concept. The orientation of the roof and glazing has been shifted to match the site's architecture. A heating module has been integrated into the glazing to provide tempered water to a hand sink. The ventilation channel from room to vault is to be integrated into the back wall. And true to the theme, recycled materials have been integrated throughout - roofing, insulation, timbers, plywood, glazing, sink etc. - including the concrete - leftover waste loads from a local redi-mix plant! Even the vault has been designed to make use of recycled waste management vessels. This resident internship project was the college thesis work of Mr. Teague Wilson - a truly amazing execution! Yet to be "commissioned" I hope you enjoy the tour of another Sunny John gracing the planet.
