The body of the oven is then plywood skinned with an eight inch gap to the masonry. The cavity is filled with perlite. The plywood is stuccoed with plaster of local clay and hammermilled straw. The backside of the oven protudes into the solar greenhouse, providing extra BTU's for winter heat.
