Raised beds and flagstone all throughout. The flagstone provides thermal mass as well as a vapor barrier for the soil of the SHCS heat storage. If the paths were left as exposed soil, their evaporative cooling in the sun and the cool of the night would extract as much as 20% of the thermal storage unnecessarily. Instead you have good passage, heat gain, and toastier soil for the plant's roots.
