With the cover off, you can see that the pivot point for the beam is simply a hole through the case on the left. Drilling the hole is not an option unless you are prepared to polish the hole smooth somehow. Instead, I punched the hole with a hand operated sheet metal punch to be sure that the surfaces are smooth for the pivot bar. On the right, two pins keep the range of motion of the beam restrained.
